Just Cause 2008 Annual Campaign Supports Susan G. Komen for the Cure

Help us reach our $50,000 goal!

  • Goal $50,000
  • $27,070

What is Just Cause?

Just Cause is Just Cabinets' way of giving back to the communities and customers we serve. We started several years ago, with winter coat drives and holiday turkey donations, on a store-by-store basis.

Everyone was enthusiastic about these programs so, in 2007, the owners decided to formalize the concept and expand it chain-wide, choosing Habitat for Humanity as our charity partner. In the first year, a cabinet-related promotion over just eight weeks resulted in donations of more than $33,000 to tri-state Habitat chapters. Many Just Cabinets employees also volunteered to participate in local building projects.

For 2008, Just Cabinets is looking to raise $50,000 for the Susan G. Komen for the Cure® Affiliates in Philadelphia, Northeastern Pennsylvania, and Maryland. The campaign kicks off July 15 and runs through December 31, 2008. So far, we have raised $27,070.

How You Can Do Your Part

Come to any Just Cabinets store and purchase one of our Komen for the Cure specialty items or just make a donation at the register. Everything you give will be doubly helpful, as Just Cabinets will match your contribution (up to $20,000). Plus, donations of $5.00 or more will receive a breast-cancer-related commemorative gift.

Employee Giving & Company Matching Donation

Just Cabinets employees are undertaking our own fundraising initiative by donating part of our paychecks throughout the campaign period. These donations will be MATCHED TWICE! ... Once by Just Cabinets, and once by the company's President and his wife personally. Including matches, these contributions currently total more than $12,000, which exceeds our original goal by nearly $5,000 and marks a huge success story in this campaign.

Why Komen?

In talking, the Just Cabinets owners and executive team realized that everyone knew someone who had been affected by breast cancer—within the company, customers and family members alike. Everyone agreed this disease was universal and, as such, a great cause to embrace. They then reached out to the world's largest organization dedicated to fighting breast cancer at every stage, Susan G. Komen for the Cure, and quickly set the campaign in motion.

Nancy G. Brinker promised her dying sister, Susan G. Komen, that she would do everything in her power to end breast cancer forever.

In 1982, that promise became Susan G. Komen for the Cure and launched the global breast cancer movement. Today, Komen for the Cure is the world’s largest grassroots network of breast cancer survivors and activists fighting to save lives, empower people, ensure quality care for all and energize science to find the cures. Komen for the Cure has invested nearly $1 billion to fulfill the promise, becoming the largest source in the world of nonprofit funds dedicated to the fight against breast cancer.
